A Note from Our Race Directors
The Ohio River Road Runners and City of Miamisburg thank you for being a part of the 45th annual Turkey Trot! The ORRRC is an all-volunteer club dedicated to promoting running and supporting the local running community. If you need any specific help during the expo or race-day, seek out a harried looking person wearing a red jacket with “TROT COMMITTEE” across the back. These people do this sort of thing for fun and their goal is to make this year’s Trot the best one ever.
We look forward to seeing you in downtown Miamisburg Thursday morning and we think you are going to have a great time! We have over 6,500 runners and walkers registered, so if at all possible, beat the race day rush and pick up your packet on Wednesday between 11:00am and 7:00pm!
Thanks for sharing your Thanksgiving morning with the 45th anniversary Turkey Trot committee, the 250 volunteers that make this event possible, and the other thousands of runners and walkers who are very glad you are sharing your morning with them.
Your Race Directors,
Greg & Margaret
Bibs & Corrals
Corral Stickers on Bib: Your race bib will have a colored stripe across the bottom. This stripe indicates your starting corral, which will be marked with matching colored flags. Please find your way to the proper corral. This will make for a more enjoyable race for you as well as those faster and slower than you. Always be mindful that even as you may be temporarily slowed by someone in front, you may be slowing someone behind.
Race Bib Timing Device: Your race bib has a timing device attached to the back. Be sure to have your bib pinned to the front of your outermost layer of clothing. This means your race time does NOT start until your bib crosses the start line. So, don’t be in a rush, just move steadily towards the start.
Chip Timing: We will use chip time for all awards. Please be aware that your competition may be in front or behind you.
Corral Movement: These corrals will fill smoothly if everyone is patient. Trust us, this works well - as long as everyone moves as a group.
Mid-Course Timing Mat: There will be a timing mat just past the water stop. Be sure you cross this mat if you want an officially timed finish. If you do not cross this mat, you will not be considered for an award.
5-Mile Red Corral
If you are in the RED corral, you will start when Mayor Collins blows the airhorn, which will be at 8:30am.
5-Mile Blue Corral
The BLUE corral will slowly fill towards the start line, following the red corral, and begin their race once they reach the start line.
5-Mile Green Corral
The GREEN corral will slowly fill towards the starting area and begin once they reach the start line.
1-Mile Participants
You will be lining up behind the five milers in the YELLOW corral
Look for the area marked with YELLOW flags
You will be starting after all the runners/walkers in the green corral have cleared the start line
You will hear a bullhorn siren to signal the start of the 1-mile event
Your course is a loop. There is no traffic but there will be parked cars -- be careful!
Please stay RIGHT when returning on Water St.
The final portion of the course is marked with cones. You must stay to the right, the 5 milers will stay to the left
Safety Notes
Please do not push, shove, bite, scratch, hiss, or run up onto the sidewalks. If you go around the start barriers, you will not cross the mats and will not be timed.
You will be crossing railroad tracks approximately 1/4 mile into the race. Please be cautious and courteous! There will be plenty of opportunity later to make up for any time you might lose here! For your safety, do not go outside the fencing. Anyone crossing to the outside will be disqualified.
Awards & Results
So that everyone can get home and start cooking, there will be no award ceremony. All awards will be mailed!
Results will be posted on our Results page on our website!
